Post Graduate Years
PGY-1
Individuals are matched into "Laboratory Medicine" through Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS). Irrespective of ultimate career pathway chosen, the PGY-1 year encompasses several facets of clinical medicine using a standard rotating format.
The resident may decide to pursue one of the other laboratory medicine specialies. For more information regarding each of these specialties, please follow the links.
* General Pathology - By deciding to remain as a generalist in General Pathology, the resident will take two years of training in surgical and anatomic pathology, six months of training in each of Medical Biochemistry, Medical Microbiology, Hematopathology, and elective rotations.
Application for entry level postgraduate positions in all primary certification programs at UBC is made through the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS).
